He has some on his body but its not as bad. My friend told me add a tablespoon of baking soda to his bath. Its dried it out but now his skin is tight and dry. Anyone else have recommendations. What kind of lotion can I put on his face?

go to the health nurse and ask . try not to let him get too warm , it might be eczema and need special care

How do you tell if you baby has heat rash or not and how do you get rid of it?
my 1 month old fell asleep and got hot n sweaty. when i took off his outfit he had a rash all over his body except where his diaper was. Is this heat rash? and how do i get rid of it. I bathed him after and rubbed aveno natural lotion on him. It is looking much better so far but still a little bit there.

Strip him down and put him in front of a fan or an AC vent to cool him down. Make sure he is hydrated. The rash will go away.

How do you get rid of baby’s heat rash?
My 7 week old son has a heat rash on both sides of his face. Is there a way to get rid of it? If so, how?

I’m also thinking it could be an allergic reaction to the lotion on my arms or detergent so I’m going to discontinue these for a few days.

is it baby acne??? most young babies get this!!

http://www.google.co.uk/search?source=ig&hl=en&rlz=1G1GGLQ_NLNL303&q=baby+acne&meta=lr%3D

my little girl had this and i found the best tip was to twice a day, clean her face with coled boiled water and apply breastmilk to it, within 1 week it disappeared, then it came back a little while later, repeated it and voila, gone!! :)

i also the first few months avoided all scented creams lotions, body wash and perfumes, not deo, ;) i wanted my baby to smell mummys natural body smell…. ;)

Not sure if my baby has heat rash?
It started off with a little bit of red bumps on his cheek (on face), then expanded, then went up to the hairline, then the other cheek, then the forehead…

Its more and more everyday! The pediatritian said it looks like heat rash, but didn’t say for sure it is.

What can I do? I already wash his face with aveeno and don’t use lotion. I make sure he isn’t too hot.

It could be a heat rash but it could also be the start of exema thats how mine started. I would ask the DR. its worth a try anyway

How to cure heat rash on a child that has dry skin?
My 4 year old son has developed heat rash. I have tried some of the home remedies that I have seen on here, but I’m running into a problem. My son has dry skin no matter what. I can usually control it with lotion, but the lotion is irritating the heat rash. How can I calm his heat rash without letting the rest of his skin dry out? If I use the baby powder, his rash looks better, but the rest of his skin looks worse. Help!!

I found the only thing that worked for me when working in a steel foundry was soaking in a very lukewarm tub for 20-30 minutes a few times a week. Your skin needs water. I also used Aveeno with oatmeal in the fall, spring and winter months, but could not handle moisturiser really hot days. They made any heat rash worse. Some suntan lotions and sunblocks will actually make a heat rash worse. They clog the pores and make the skin hotter. Steroid creams will work on elbows and knees. I wouldn’t use it too much on a 4 year old as it will thin his skin.

8 week old baby has a rash?
My 8 week old has had what looked like very dry red skin on both her arms for about 2 weeks now. I used baby lotion on her arms and it just seemed to make it worse. I took her to the doctors yesterday and she said it looked like dry skin but could be eczema. She told me not to use any kind of baby product and to use dove sensitive skin wash and eucerin lotion. I have been putting the lotion on her and its looks much worse now its a blotchy bright red and looks inflamed almost. I would say it resemble heat rash but it has been going on since yesterday. Does anyone know what could be going on or if there is anything safe to use on an 8 week old baby for rashes?

Avoid aything and everything with perfumes and dyes including laundry detergent. Try soaking her in oatmeal baths. My oldest went through it. He lost the ‘baby smell’ but his skin healed up well. You can buy packets of oatmeal bath at most stores in the HBA section. Also Aveeno brand baby products are great (aveeno also has oatmeal bath packets). And Cetaphil brand lotion. If you are concerned that it in fact is not eczema, although to me that’s what it sounds like, then call the pedi.

You know, waiting in the line for the rides and all that…also I didn’t put much sunscreen on! Okay, let me get to the point. SO I’m tanned alot and even my scalp is tanned red! AND my face is dried…there’s some white stuff…I put Johnson’s Baby Lotion on and it kind of healed…but not exactly. Now, I want to try aloevera…the raw one..the one my mom planted in the garden and just rub it on my face!
Will it help make my skin smooth again??

Thanks! :)
if you touch some parts of my face like near my eye and my cheeks, you can feel that they are very rough!

you should exfolitae

and do not use a vitamin E cream

seein as this is sun damage

go for the aloe vera gel because

it helps sun damage 85% more then vitamin E cream

because it smooths the skin and cools it down

am i the only adult female that uses baby lotion as an everyday body lotion?
i use it everywhere and i mean everywhere on my body. even my face and it seems to keep me well moisturized and i don’t break out. in fact my face is typically blemish free to the point that i never wear cover up. plus it smells GREAT!
when ever i mention what i use to people i know they always look at me like i’m nuts.
does anyone else out there use it?
do you think i’m crazy for using it?

Baby lotion and “baby” hair detangler” work great. Keep doing what you’re doing and don’t worry about what other people think.

My son laughed at me when I bought the detangler in the “baby” area. But it works. That’s what matters.

Keep doing what you’re doing since it works for you. My daughter uses “baby” oil after every shower and has beautiful skin.

Please don’t worry about what other people think!

Can you use Baby Lotion for really dry skin on an adult?
I have really dry skin on my forearms, It gets kind of flaky now and then, will baby lotion fix it or is it too mild.. I read that Gwen Stefani uses baby lotion on herself, so now I think its a good idea, i luv her lol

Sure! that pink lotion smells great!

Johnsons baby lotion uses?
I have loads of this stuff but don’t really know what uses it has for the baby. I use it as a make-up remover sometimes LOL! Any answers welcome.

hi, i didnt want to use it on my baby as its very perfumed, im a qualified beauty therapist and they say that the more perfumed the product, the more un-natural and bad for the skin.
i didnt use it for probably the first six months, then my son got dry skin that no cream would get rid of, so i tried the baby lotion, and it worked wonders!!
so now i put it on his legs, arms and face (as he did used to get dry cheeks) and he is sooooo soft.
if your baby has soft skin naturally with no dryness, then you dont need to use it, but it really does work for dryness.
also since i started using it on him my hands are really soft and smooth!

baby lotion?????????
can teenagers with sensitive skin use baby lotion? or is it bad for you? and also can teenagers use babies shampoo, it smells nicer lol. and babies always have super soft hair… please help. thanks guys :)

yes you can. i am 23 and i use baby lotion. it is a lot more gentle than a lot of other moisturizers.. yeah you can use the shampoo and wash to…

Baby Lotion????
So…my guy friend has REALLY soft hair and the other day, I was trying to mess it up and it wasn’t working and so I asked him what he used…expecting a shampoo or something..but he answered saying..BABY LOTION!…and i was completelyyy puzzled! haha..anywayssss, how many of you have heard of using baby lotion instead of gel or other products to keep your hair a certain way or to soften it?!!! Does anyone use baby lotion in their hair????

Like you I” m surprised to hear about the use of baby lotion on hair instead of other products. It seems to have worked for your r boyfriend and you got to reap the benefits…so, if it does the job why not ?

Do you know of any non toxic baby wash, shampoo, bubble bath out there on the market?
Every time I give my 2 year old daughter a bath, she loves to drink the water/ put the bubbles in her mouth. I talked to her pediatrician about this and she said its fine, most kids do this and it is normal. I currently use Method bubble bath, shampoo and baby wash and I looked on the back to see if these were non toxic and it didn’t say. I know a lot of Method products are non toxic, but these don’t say. Do you know of any that are non toxic? Thanks for your help!

With the pediatrician’s blessing I wouldn’t worry too much about it, since just by using Method you’re using a safer (gentler / cleaner) product for your 2 year old.

You’re right, the “non-toxic” label is missing from Method’s advertising for the baby products and it’s not on the label. Personally, though, I’d trust them. We use their counter top wipes, dish soap, and hand soap at home.

If you want to go one step further, you could go with Dr. Bronner’s (or other brand) castille soap. The ingredients listed are a variety of natural vegetable oils that you really can eat. There’s an unscented “Baby Mild” version that I like to use on the baby. Personally, I use the lavender to help relax during evening showers or the peppermint for morning showers.

Mommy prefers Mustela for our 3 month old for the smell and how well it works. Though it may not be as “natural” as the above mentioned brands it has a good reputation and was recommended by our pediatrician.

In the end, you’re doing right by your daughter. These products are absorbed by our skin, in our eyes, and are generally safe. Before we know it, our kids will be in high school and we’ll have other things to worry about (mine’s growing like a weed!).

Update: The liquid Dr Bronner’s soap cleans great but doesn’t make much suds. You mix a squirt or two with a few gallons of water (or less) and clean with a wash cloth. This combined with the fact it doesn’t taste too nice (bleh – I just tasted the baby mild version), might reduce incidents of bubble-blowing and digestion by your 2 year old!

I’m going to volunteer abroad in 2 weeks. What should I bring for the families?
I have bought some toys (playskool market, baby toys, teethers, hot wheels) and toiletries (soap, shampoo, sanitizer).

Do you think there is need for anything else?

It entirely depends on where “abroad” you’re going!

I take it from the toiletries that you’re going somewhere where they don’t have soap and shampoo…

Things we put in Christmas boxes for underprivileged children include stationery items: writing paper and envelopes, notebooks, pencils and crayons, erasers and pencil sharpeners, pencil cases, Then there’s balls, skipping ropes, and dolls.

Why do companies offer promotions like 25% more?
I bought a bottle of baby shampoo and sitting on the shelf was 2 bottles of the same product (johnson & johnson) one regular size and one the bigger with the label reading (25% more) both the same price. From what I understand the bottles will not consistently be bigger.
So wouldn’t it be a better marketing move for the company to put out a coupon for 25% off?
Why do they instead make different bottles?
Whats the marketing purpose of this?

25% of shampoo is cheap. A 25% off coupon is not.

Should we give a rabbit a shower?
I took my bunnies to get a shower today. One of them was terrified at the beginning, but he was fine as he got used to it. Then, I took the other bunny to get his shower, he was so terrified, he screamed. It was a high-pitched scream. And I was so scared about his reaction.
I have heard rumors that bunnies are not to have a shower. Yet, there are shampoos available on the market for bunnies. So I thought it was normal for them.

I usually just let them clean themselves. But this time, one of the bunny urinated on the other bunny. So, to get them both clean, we put them in the shower. (Not in a tub of water, but just have soft warm water and washed them with baby shampoo (from J&J). Then, we used a blow dryer with warm air to dry them. Both of them reacted normally to the warm air.

So, should rabbit be cleaned in a shower?

Normally rabbits clean themselves just fine, unless they get especially dirty. Most rabbits done like water, some do, it depends on the rabbit.

For more info on rabbits go here: http://www.sandiegorabbits.org/

What is it meant by ‘boomers’ here?
—————
If you find portions of your existing target market declining or harder to reach, search for other segments which may be growing and which your product could be re-positioned to capture. For example, as sales of one baby shampoo fell along with the birth rate, the product was re-targeted at aging boomers with sensitive skin.

Boomers: Baby Boomers- the “baby boom” was the dramatic increase in births following WWII- all the service men and women came back from overseas and started fornicating like crazy. So the “boomers” are those people who were born ~1946 and the few years following.

A Safe and Natural / Herbal product or home remedy to detangle very Frizzy and EASILY ENTANGLED hair type?
My Mother has very frizzy thin black hair and they get tangled very easily and alot, she has them a little below shoulder length and braids them, but they get tangled so much that she takes atleast 1 hour to detangle and rebraid her hair, and she is so so annoyed with it, she doesnt want to use the products on the market because she is afraid it will spoil/damage her hair(i guess good natural products should work), She uses johnsons baby shampoo bcoz she finds that its the safest, what good natural/herbal/home remedy will help keep her hair detangled or atleast less tangled and less frizzy without causing any damage?

There is a new brand just coming out called Organix. The products have organic active ingredients and are sulfate free, so as not to dry out your hair…and the fragrances are amazing! You’ll be able to get Organix over the next few weeks at Kroger, Target, Safeway, Albertsons, Duane Reade, etc. You’ll love Organix.

Can you put baby lotion on your face and prevent wrinkles?

Nope! You wanna prevent wrinkles? Sleep on a satin or a silk pillowcase. Cotton whisks away moisture which is why we wear cotton underwear (some of us at least!)

Why does my face get so dry and wrinkled when I don’t put on Vaseline?
I put on Vaseline after I shower. When I’m out, I put on Johnson’s Baby Lotion and put my make-up on top. When I’m wearing Vaseline my skin feels moisturized, greasy, but moisturized. When I’m not wearing Vaseline I get all these visible wrinkles on my face which goes away when I put on Vaseline. What is going on?

While you put the vaseline on in is coating the dryness, why don’t you use some kind of face moisturizer instead of vaseline? I hate to say this sometimes we have to except what life throws at us like getting older. You might not be there yet but it will soon come and be ready try to delay it alittle but that is life.

Getting rid of wrinkles at 14?
I’m a girl and I have wrinkles that’re kind of noticeable. There’s some on my upper cheek, tiny ones on the upper part of my nose and those smile ones? The ones on my cheek stand out a lot when I mainly smile. It gets kind of deep? And uh, whenever I use foundation to cover up some of my blemishes and acne, it tends to seep into the smile one. So i was wondering how I can get rid of these wrinkles without provoking my acne? I’m afraid to use moisturizers though because it might make my acne worse… I know Johnson’s baby lotion made it A LOT worse.

I don’t know about your life choices, but if you smoke or spend a lot of time in the sun, the wrinkles are just going to get worse no matter what you do. I have skin that breaks out if I put anything but water on it, but I have found some moisturizers that work pretty well. One that I found that works really well is called Skin MD Natural. It’s a little expensive, about $10.00 for a 4 oz bottle, but I like it a lot and I don’t use a lot of it. I found it at a Walgreen’s pharmacy, but they also have a website: www.SkinMDNatural.com

Good luck!

Does eyeliner cause premature wrinkles around your eyes?
I am 15 years old and i started wearing makeup, almost daily, in middle school probably around the age 13 years old. My mother always says that I will get wrinkles earlier on if i keep wearing make-up. I was just wondering if i what my mom says is correct.
I take off my make up everyday before i go to sleep and i apply a moisturizer everyday after i wash my face as well.
I use a Dior make up remover for the eyes and the baby lotion by johnson & johnson because i found that it is very gentle on my skin and makes my face more smooth and clean looking.

What is the ideal age to start using anti aging cream?
If so, which products should i use?
&
does make up actually cause wrinkles?
Thanks!

I’ve done a lot of research on this topic myself, and there are conflicting opinions about whether or not makeup causes premature aging and wrinkles. I believe it does, if your skin is really sensitive (like mine). I don’t know how normal skin reacts to makeup.

From my own experience, I know that the less I do to my face, the better it looks. One convincing argument for makeup causing wrinkles is that men tend to age much more slowly than women do. Their skin is often unwrinkled and unlined in their 40′s, even when they don’t avoid sun exposure religiously. What are the men doing differently?… they don’t wear makeup, they don’t cleanse excessively and they don’t use expensive creams.

I don’t think eyeliner is nearly as bad for the eye skin as eyeshadow and concealer, because less skin gets exposed to chemicals and powder is very drying. Eye area skin doesn’t produce its own oil, so the last thing you want to do is dry it out! One of the worst hazards of eye makeup is that it will make your eyes swell in the night. This will stretch the skin over time, and you’ll get droopy and wrinkled eyelids. If your eyes don’t swell it’s probably ok. If they do, you might want to find a different brand of makeup or give your face a break 1-2 days a week.

I think 25 is a good age to start wearing anti aging cream, but don’t get it too close to your eyes… that will cause swelling and puffiness. If you don’t want wrinkles, don’t forget to stay out of the sun! :)

15 Years Old – Lots of Wrinkles? HELP!?
( I asked this question the other day, but received not good answers )

I’m a 15 year old girl and I have lots of wrinkles and lines under my eyes. When I smile they become deeper, darker, and crows feet appear on the corners of my eyes. I moisturize everyday with Baby Lotion (I have very dry skin), I get 9-10 hours of sleep every night, I drink 1-2 bottles of water every day, and I eat lots of fruits and vegetables. I consider myself to be quite health as I exercise for 3-4 hours everyday as well. Is there anything I can do with home remedies? I know my mother wouldn’t let me buy anything because she claims they’re my imagination. They aren’t! They’re so drastic that I can lay thin objects (such as sewing needles) in between the folds and it stays in place (not through my skin, just laying on the folds)! I’ve also tried Preparation H, but it doesn’t seem to be working (I was using the US Version).

Also, here is a picture (I am the girl on the right. I envy my friend’s wrinkless eyes!): http://i56.tinypic.com/2rcs6s2.jpg

PLEASE HELP.
What’s with all the comments about tanning? I would never go to a tanning bed! Those things are so unhealthy! I’m naturally that tan.

Use sunscreen, even in Winter lots of UV rays. You need lotion with UVB and UVA protection.

Stay well hydrated and use coconut oil as a over night moisturizer and eat coconut oil instead of other cooking oils, it will naturally keep your skin moisturized. It is also good for your hair to. Drink green tea daily, not the cheap stuff at the store, real green tea is green, buy Ta-Fu Green Tea online if you can’t find anywhere. Give up sugar, white bread, high sodium and smoking, these all contribute to poor health.

Did I permanently damage the skin on my nose?
Two nights ago I popped all of the black heads on my nose. My nose was really red after that, but I expected to wake up the next morning with it back to normal. Two days later now, and it’s still red. It’s also painful, dry and rinkly. It kind of feels like leather and it has deep wrinkles that feel like they might peel when I scruntch my nose up. I’ve been using lotion, baby oil, and acne lotion on it trying to get it to soften up. Have I really screwed my nose up this time?

No you haven’t. You have caused irritation and it may even develope scabs and peel but it will heal up. Keep it clean and watch for infection which can happen with any kind of a sore. Also if the blackheads continue to be a problem you might want to check with a doctor and see if there is something that can help with the blackheads.

is baby lotion by johnson and johnson any good for adults?

Yes. i use it all the time on myself.:)

adults using baby lotion?
so i started putting johnson and Johnson baby lotion sample that i had on my dry feet at night, yah kind of gross but its winter, we allllll have it! and i’m starting to LOVE the left over smoooth feeling and smell on my hand from the lotion.. but i know that its not as strong, its made for sensitive skin, i dont have sensitive skin AT ALL, and i’m wondering if i start using it, my skin will get prone to the “for sensitive skin” stuff, and become sensitive? any experiences or what do you think?

johnson~johnson baby lotion is it good for adult?

yes because it acts as good moisurring agent

Is baby lotion too gentle for adult skin?
My parents bought me a bottle of Johnson and Johnson baby lotion (for reasons I don’t know of). Now, my skin is quite dry and rough, unless I use a proper lotion. Would baby lotion be enough or is it just too gentle?

The only way you’ll know is if you test it out. You may have to use it twice daily, it really depends on how dry your skin is.

Does Johnson’s baby lotion REALLY work on adult’s skin?
i am asking this because i am thinking of using it but i am not assured that it is effective. i’ve always loved nivea creme but (as we all know) its really oily, especially on the face!

i’m looking for a no fuss/mess moisturizer!

I love it and use it all the time, just love the smell. I’d say it works different on everyone, my sister says it don’t do much for her, but I adore it.

If I’m an adult and I want baby soft skin, is it okay to use Johnson&Johnson’s baby body wash? and lotion?
Will it make me skin softer?

of course

The other day I tried the night time lotion that is supposed to make them sleepy. he broke out in a full body rash! I called his Dr and she said he should be fine but not to use the lotion anymore (DUH!!!) When can I use lotion on him? Should I wait until he is 6 months like you do with sunscreen?

Because I have sensitive skin, we decided from the get-go not to use the Johnsons stuff on our daughter, just in case she got my crappy skin, because we found it pretty harsh. We use an Aveeno calming and soothing lotion which has been great. I think they can have lotion early, just not on their face. And you can definitely put sunscreen on him. Again, we use the Aveeno stuff. It’s a bit more expensive, but worth it in the end.

At what age did you stop puting baby lotion on your baby ?
My son is eight months old and my other son is sixteen months old is sixteeen months to old ????

My son is almost 10 months and I still put it on him. He has very dry and sensitive skin though so I have to put it on twice a day to keep his skin moist. He also has excema on the back of his knees that I have to keep in check. I don’t think your 16 month old is too old but I am sure you could do it every other day or maybe twice a week. I only put lotion on myself once or twice a week and my skin stays moist. Try it out, but if you notice your child getting dry go back to putting it on every day.

At what age is it ok for babies to use lotion, baby powder, diaper cream and that kind of stuff?
The hospital told me not to use products on her right away but I’m unsure when its ok ( the only thing I use on her is baby bath soap).

you can use those product when ever you feel the need. My nicu told us that don’t use the baby lotion to make them smell good use it for them to get moister. the baby powder I use it but they said don’t just splash it on there butt because it can get into there lung. So what I do is I turn from the babies and I put it on my hands and just sprinkle it on there butts. and I wipe some underneath they chins. because sometime when they spit up they get it caught there its really gross. I use baby oil after the lotion to lock in the moister. I didn’t use baby wipe on them till they were 2 months old though. The nicu gave us these paper wipes you just put water on em. it was better for them. from the the day they were born we used the Johnson and Johnson baby stuff for there baths. and the best stuff for rash or to prevent a rush is us A and D its just a vitamin cream Good luck and congrats.

At what age can babies wear suntan lotion?
Mine is almost seven months and I bought her suntan lotion for babies that states for babies six months and up. But is it really safe? What do the pedi’s say?

My ped said at 6 months it was fine, but still recommended that we use a hat and keep shade around baby.

at what age do you stop using baby products on your children?
hey i was wondering at what age do you stop using baby lotion, soap, and other baby products?

or do you just keep using it ?
i still use baby lotions some times because it works well on my dry skin

I still use them on my 4 (almost 5!) year old! I LOVE the smell of them and use them daily! I will probably “let” him stop using them when he is old enough to make his own “lotion” decisions! lol

how often do you apply baby lotion to your baby?
is it true that if you apply baby lotion on a baby since very young up to an older age about 10 or so that theyll have oily skin? how often do you put baby lotion on your baby everyday, every other day, etc?
just wondering

My newborn’s skin was very dry, especially after a bath. So i always applied it after a bath. That means now she takes a bath every night (she’s 8 months now) and she gets slathered with lotion. I’ve never heard about it causing oily skin in their toddler years. My neighbor was basically the one who taught me all about grooming baby, and she has a 6 year old that doesn’t look oily at all, and never has. If your baby doesn’t get very dry skin, then just use a small amount.

Using baby lotion on babies 0-12 months?
Is it really safe to use baby lotion on babies 0-12 months?

My son is 3 months friday (tomorrow) and he has dry patches on his face, i use some Aveeno baby lotion for dry skin but on the back of that it says keep out of reach of children and if ingested call poison control. Not to mention the regular Johnson and Johnson baby lotion i use on his body says keep out of reach of children. Is this really safe to use on a baby if it is not safe for them to ingest?

My son already tries to put everything in his mouth imagine when he’s crawling… How safe can the baby product be if it says that?

Thanks.

there are plenty of things that we use everyday with the same warning. if you ingest too much toothpaste it can be bad, which is why there’s a warning on it. but we are expected to put it in our mouths, and occasionally ingest some of it.

lotions are fine to put on your baby. they tell you to keep them away from the baby because if they ingest large amounts of it, that’s when problems arise. so, unless you are squeezing the lotion into their mouths like chocolate syrup and NOT applying it like lotion is normally applied, it’s fine. i don’t even know what we would have done without it because our daughter had dry skin, too, and lotion was always used. SHe was also constantly chewing her hands and still does- never a single issue.

How can you ease the pain of a Poison Ivy itch throughout your whole body?
Ive heard that rubbing alchohol can help, and splashing cold water. Can i take a shower w/ soap? should i apply lotion? baby powder? When i say throughout my whole body, i mean like on my whole legs and arms. =/ please help! IT ITCHESS!!! (itch itch)

Go to the doctor and get a Cortisone injection. It will clear up within 20 hours (more like 12). You could get some Aloe Vera gel from the store though. Alternatively, hot water does alleviate the itching sensation for a while. Anti-histimines might reduce the discomfort as well. A sure bet is always anti-itch creme like Cortisone or another similar ointment/creme.

38 wks preg and have poison ivy…help?
I am 38wks and 2days preg ive had poison ivy for about a week now. it started on my face then spread everywhere! my face is clearing up and other spots as well but now more keeps popin up.. im trying by best to not scratch. ive been taking cold showers, oatmeal baths, calamine lotion, allergy penadryl ive also used iverest and nothing has fully helped. i am scheduled for a c-section next thursday and need to get rid of this soon. i do not have it on my breasts so that’s good but i do have some on the back part of my hand. any advice or diff remedy’s to try. this is my first baby and im freakin out! lol

I think my baby is having a milk allergy?
My baby just turned 1 last month and he has always had eczema, but sometimes it gets really bad and almost looks like poison ivy or hives, but the doc keeps saying eczema. His eyes even get swollen almost like he is having an allergic reaction. I have tried everything, all kinds of creams, lotions, baths etc, and nothing seems to help.
I am thinking me might be having an allergic reaction to milk. He has been drinking whole milk since he was 10 months.
I do think that he has eczema, but something is making it flair up at random times, so I want to try to cut out milk for a couple weeks to see if it clears up at all, but I am not sure what to substitute it with. I want to make sure that he is still getting all the vitamins and minerals that he needs. What would you recommend, Goats milk, soy, rice milk, silk..?? If anyone has experienced anything similar with your baby, please share your knowledge and what worked for you.
thanks!
Just to answer some of your questions:
He breastfed until 7 months (i had to stop due to my work schedule and not producing enough)
Then switched to regular milk based formula.
He does have runny stools a lot and it almost seems like it burns his butt. Other than that, It is just a really bad body rash.
I have taken him to the doctor and hospital MULTIPLE times and always get told the same eczema story, so that is why I am going to start trying to find out the problem myself.
My baby eats more than my 5 year old LOL so I think that he is getting almost all his vit. and min. by food, so I am not sure if I can just cut the milk out completely for a couple weeks or if I should sub. it with something else?

About ten years ago I was a nanny to a little girl who couldn’t digest milk, so she would just throw it up. The mother switched her to soy milk and everything was then fine. It was quite strange since the little girl loved to each Kraft cheese singles, but for some reason couldn’t handle milk.

As far as the eczema – I feel terrible. I also have eczema, but nowhere near as bad as it sounds your little has it. And the sad fact is – all the creams and medications in the world don’t work at all. The baby may find some soothing, but none of them will make it fade faster or stop further flare ups. Just make sure you always use gentle soaps and detergents since strong soaps can cause a burning sensation – especially on gentle baby skin. And only lukewarm baths since hot water will dry out skin. Moisture is your baby’s best friend because eczema gets ten times worse when you get dry skin. I really hope you find something that works for your little one. Best of luck.

Best of luck.

Feedback on my story?
Feedback on my story would be great! Please please tell me what you think, and feel.

When you force your mind to work, to think your heart will stop beating. Your words won’t bleed with the hurt you feel, the love, the pain, the honesty, the burdens; they’ll be dry like your dresser drawer. Letting things flow out like old calamine lotion on poison ivy and sticking worms in the water just to watch them drown, that’s the easiest thing to do, letting things happen. Like letting your sister make the really gross microwavable tacos and remain thin, just let it go. Letting go like saying; the sun turned blue like her eyes on a summer day because nothing can stay the same and lonely interstates are never the same in the rain without you. Not trying to be good, not trying to write about things that will make sense to you, that will make someone want to cry, to save the world, to make love, to die, no. It’s boring, bland like baby potatoes still covered in dirt, or corn tortillas that taste like cardboard even though I don’t know what cardboard tastes like – though I know what corn tortillas taste like. Everyone is going swimming late at night, they’re going to go dance with the mosquitoes, while your cat chases rabbits across the street with headlights to light his way.
I should probably explain a couple of the things to you. The dresser drawer is dry, like wood is dry no longer in the ground with moisture from dirt, it is no longer alive.
The sun turns blue after you’ve stared at it for too long, it’s just a trick your eyes play on you and you know that. But if you say it out loud it’s like believing something that is untrue just because you want to, because you want to hope. The part about the cat is at the end, because the cat is ending. Chasing the rabbit into the road with an on-coming car (the headlights) and it will be hit and die. But it will die doing the thing it loves most. And the thing the girl loves most, if she continues to do it, will kill her (not eating to stay thin).

When you force your mind to work, to think your heart will stop beating. Your words won’t bleed with the hurt you feel, the love, the pain, the honesty, the burdens; they’ll be dry like your dresser drawer. (LOVE THE ALLITERATION HERE, NOT SURE THAT A DRESSER DRAWER IS SPECIFICALLY DRY THOUGH. COULD WE THINK OF SOMETHING ELSE?) Letting things flow out like old calamine lotion on poison ivy and sticking worms in the water just to watch them drown, that’s the easiest thing to do, letting things happen. Like letting your sister make the really gross microwavable tacos and remain thin, just let it go. Letting go like saying; (NOT SURE IF I WOULD “LIKE SAYING”. HOW ABOUT BECAUSE? AS IN… LETTING GO BECAUSE THE SUN TURNED BLUE…) the sun turned blue (I THINK THERE’S A LOT OF TRUTH TO WHAT YOUR SAYING. IF YOU BRING UNTRUTH, LIKE THE SUN TURNING BLUE, I THINK YOU’RE UNDERMINING YOUR MESSAGE BUT IT’S YOUR CHOICE. WHAT IF YOU SAY.. “LE BECAUSE TTING GO THE SKY WAS BLUE LIKE HER EYES ON A SUMMER DAY, BUT NOTHING CAN STAY THE SAME. LONELY INTERSTATES IN THE RAIN ARE NEVER THE SAME WITHOUT YOU.) like her eyes on a summer day because nothing can stay the same and lonely interstates (IN THE RAIN) are never the same (in the rainREMOVE) without you. <---ABSULOUTLY LOVE THIS LINE!!! Not trying to be good, not trying to write about things that will make sense to you, that will make someone want to cry, to save the world, to make love, to die, no. LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE. It’s boring, bland like baby potatoes still covered in dirt, or corn tortillas that taste like cardboard even though I don’t know what cardboard tastes like - though I know what corn tortillas taste like. (A BIT WORDY. WHAT IF YOU SAID.. ....OR CORN TORTILLAS THAT TASTE AS I IMAGINE CARDBOARD WOULD.) Everyone is going swimming late at night, they’re going to (goREMOVE) dance with the mosquitoes, while your cat chases rabbits across the street with headlights to light (LIGHTING) his way.

Why did my bunny die?
My cat brought home a baby bunny on sunday (im estimating it was about a week old–still had its eyes closed and ears pinned back) so i picked it up, brought it inside, put it in a box with some washcloths and old bandannas, and check it for injuries. It didnt have any so I let it settle down for a couple of hours and then started feeding it milk out of an eye dropper. That night i was taking it outside for its mother to retrieve it but there was a hole on the side of the box and it tried to crawl through and got its head stuck. I immediately cut it out with a pocket knife and it seemed to be fine so i wrapped it up in a blanket and cradled it for a while. The next morning at about 6 am i put it back outside for its mom to come and get it, even though i didnt know where the nest was, and it never came (i left it outside for about three hours). It started eating little by little and by tuesday i was feeding it about every three-four hours and it was eating very well. It was also peeing and pooping properly. On tuesday night a few friends stopped by to hold it and it licked one of my friends hands because she had lotion on. After that I put it in my room (with the A/C on) in its box wrapped up in a towel and went downstairs to watch television. I had accidently fallen asleep downstairs (my first night without it by my side and without checking on it) and when i woke up the next morning it was under a thin bandana and it wasn’t moving very much. When i picked it up to feed it, it was extremely cold so i began breathing hot air on it and i wrapped it up in a towel. I tried to feed it some milk but it just wasn’t taking it. i then wrapped it up in a second towel. After about 15 minutes, i ditched the towels and cupped it in my hands against my chest and continued to breathe hot air on it. It felt a little warmer and it was moving a little more but it still didnt feel right. after about 30 minutes it stretched and yawned and i thought it would be okay. About 5 minutes after that i picked it up to check and see if it was moving anymore. When i picked it up it was extremely limp and i knew it was dead so i burst into tears.

I’m not exactly sure what killed it.
my theories are:
-it was too young and just didnt have a chance
-it got too cold during the night because i wasn’t warming it
-my friends lotion poisoned it
-i over fed it
-i wasnt feeding it the right milk

please no rude answers
I really do feel like it may have been the cold. I didnt realize how cold it really was in my room until you dont sleep through the night in it. I feel completely terrible! i shouldnt have taken the risk of leaving it in here! i cant believe i killed it because i neglected to care for it properly! I have NEVER felt so bad before

I’m so sorry. I don’t have an answer for you, but I just wanted to share my condolences.

I’ve tried baby shampoo on saturday ( I only wash my hair once a week) and I don’t think it’s bad at all, in fact my hair felt nice after using it…

it’s not! it’s actually healthier then regular shampoo because new born babies have sensitive care and therefore their shampoos like for example johnsons baby shampoo is just simply made with more quality and texture.
its much healthier and better for your hair, the only thing thats damaging is conditionar.

Is baby shampoo bad for me to use?
I have long blonde straight hair and I normally use Nioxin scalp therapy shampoo. Nioxin is very expensive though and I am using Johnsons baby shampoo for a couple months in place of it. Is is okay for my hair?
Ive heard it can leave dandruff and build up because its so mild.

Baby shampoo is fine to use but if you notice that its getting worse dont be afraid to change. The differnce between normal shampoo and baby shampoo is that baby shampoo is more gental. so if you notice dirt or dandruff switch back . you dont neccessarraliy have to go back to nioxin ty herbal essenes. or maybe tresseme. expessive doesnt always mean better

Is baby shampoo bad for my dog?
My wife is spending a fortune on dog grooming products. Recently she bought a small bottle of dog shampoo for £12! I am not a miser and I love our dog but I believe baby shampoo would do the same thing (if not better). They even test some of the baby products on animals before human use (which I am strongly against as an animal lover). What do you think?

human/baby shampoo should not be used on dogs … dogs need a shampoo that is good for the pH of their skin (which is different from humans) … even baby shampoo is drying for a dog … if you have a small dog a 12 pound bottle of shampoo is not excessive considering it will last a long time … but if you have a giant dog, your wife might look for a more inexpensive dog shampoo …

Is Baby Shampoo bad for your hair?
Okay so I’m real serious when it comes to my hair and so i use baby shampoo. The reason I use baby shampoo is because My Grandma told me to because she use to be a hairstylist and she told me that they told her in beauty school that baby shampoo is the best for your hair because it doesnt let it fall out and its very gentle on your hair and not hard so I use. I need to know is it bad for my hair because then I will stop using it? I’ve heard it drys out your hair thats about it.

Baby shampoo is meant for babies and usually the shampoo helps the baby’s hair grow faster, yet keeping it really soft too. I have a brother who is 3 years old and he uses baby shampoo and honestly, I’m really jealous of his hair XD so these days, I’ve been using baby shampoo and I realized that it makes it much more softer as well as non-greasy. But of course, my hair type could be different than yours so it all depends. Hope this helps! <3

Is baby oil, baby shampoo, & water mixed together bad for your eyes?
I HATEHATEHATE Store department makeup remover,so I made my own, out of baby oil, baby shampoo, & water, (mixed together in a bottle) it works really good but I’m curious if the ingredients are bad for the eyes?

Hmmm. You must have not thought this through very much and I apologize for sounding a bit mean, but you did in fact say BABY oil and BABY shampoo. I honestly think the purpose of each of those items is to be more gentle for a BABY. If its bad for your eyes its definitely bad for a BABY and Johnson&Johnson’s would be sued by now.

I have color treated hair and use baby shampoo, is that bad?
I’m 15, btw. I dont know if that matters of not.
I have color treated hair, and I read that baby shampoo is bad for my hair. What exactly will it do to my hair?

I actually recommend baby shampoo to people who have colored their hair. It is just super gentle so it will not pull color molecules out when you shampoo! Color Safe shampoo is great but it may still be a little too harsh for colored hair.

Its the recipe where you use sunlight soap and hot water to make a paste and then use that paste to wash baby clothes.

I need to know the exact recipe to make it and also how much to use when doing a load of baby’s washing.

What do you mean ‘paste’? The only recipes I’ve ever come across are either for powder or liquid soap. Since you mention hot water, I guess you mean it’s a liquid recipe. You can use any sort of soap you want to make any of the recipes…so it’s hard to say which one your family used. If I were you, I’d just search around on the internet or something until you find one that sounds right. The most simple recipe I can remember finding, uses 2.5 gallons of hot water, 1 bar of soap (they make a Sunlight bar), and 1 cup of washing soda. (I don’t know if you’d like it scented, but a few drops of any essential oil usually does the trick.) Standard goes for that sort of recipe…1/2c per load of laundry.

does anyone have any good non soap recipes for homeade baby wipe solution?
thanks, also, does anyone know of any disposable diaper liners that are cheaper than imse-vimpse, or kushies.. I have tried dried out baby wipes but they dont work and they cost almost the same amount.. any other ideas you have would be great to hear..
I found some neat tricks, I wash and reuse the potty only disposable diaper liners 1 or 2 times to cut down on cost, I have also washed my disposable bottle liners for avent, and platex at least ten times each..making them less than a penny instead or 10cents each.. I asked my doctor about this and he said it was ok to do this. just stop using them when they show any wear.. thanks for all the great answers.

I use this solution with some old wash cloths or squares of soft cotton flannel with hemmed edges to prevent fraying.
Anti-fungal Baby Wipes

1/2 c. distilled water
1 tbs. vinegar (helps discourage yeast)
1/4 c. aloe vera gel
1 TBS. calendula oil
1 drop lavender essential
1 drop tea tree essential oil

To prepare, use a glass jar with a tight fitting lid. Pour all your ingredients in, cover the jar and shake to blend the ingredients. Place your wipes in a container and pour on enough solution to moisten them. Store any extra solution in the fridge. It should stay fresh for a long time especially if you used distilled water.

As far as disposable liners, I use Tiny Tush disposable liners http://www.tinytush.com/Disposable-Diaper-Liners_p_79-572.html They are big, so you can cut them in half and they work just fine!

I was thinking abt making homemade baby wipes. My daughter is 2. Keeps getting this diaper rash. We are in the process of ruling out food allergies but I was just curious, any moms/dads/caregivers make their own wipes? Every recipe I see so far is easy but includes usually some kind of oil & baby soap. Now, my question is this: why on earth would I want to use soap on wipes when once you wipe you put a diaper back on and that’s it? The soap stays on the skin which isn’t good. Trying to find a recipe MINUS any soap.

Thanks. Doing google searches now.
I use Target disposable diapers. She was in them since abt December and maybe abt a month ago or so has started having the probs so I don’t think it’s the diapers.

Thanks for answers so far :)

A LOT of cloth using parents do reusable or homemade wipes, normally I do but I was recently given a LOT of huggies brand wipes (about 10 bulk packs!) and I’m in the process of getting rid of them!

I have three methods of making my wipes up depending on the weather.

In Summer, when it is NOT raining I use plain water and washcloths.

In summer when it IS raining, I use 1 cup of water with 1 drop lavender oil for soaking the wipes.

In Winter or when he is teething I brew up a cup of chamomile tea (It has soothing and healing properties) to soak the wipes in. I brew up a fresh lot of chamomile tea every twelve hours in winter as it keeps it warm!

I NEVER add soap to my son’s wipes, I use a soap free body wash for both of us as his father has REALLY dry skin and I don’t want my son suffering from it and it’s just plain easier to have only one bottle of body wash in the bathroom!
