I need to know can you wash a newborn baby with”Jhonson baby soap”?
my boyfriend’s mother told him that he can’t wash a newborn up with ”Jhonson baby soap” because it’s too strong, you have to use wet wipes, and he can’t wash there belly button. I said we can because the soap is for babies, and we can wash them up but you just can’t wash there belly button until it falls off and then we can give them a bath.

Heck yes you can…didn’t they tell you that at the hospital? I wouldn’t use wipes…it could give the baby a rash if they are scented. Ya, don’t wash the babies belly button….just wipe around it with a clean warm wash cloth. First rule don’t ever listen to ur boyfriends mom! Ask ur Doctor….

What soap can you use on a six month old infant w/ sensitive skin?
We have tried all of liquid johnsons baby soap but he still has red patches on his skin after a bath? Is there another soap that I could use. I have also tried cetaphil but it does not work. Thought abt using dial basics but we have hard water hear and it would cause soap scum in the water while I am bathing him. Any advice on what i should do.

yes use aveno or aveeno cant remember how you spell it, its for baby with eczema (skin rash) and babies with sensitive skin, its the best brand out there for this, get the unscented one, if the red patches still occur could it be the formula? but i know this soap is good, a little pricey but it works good, they also have aveno lotion for babies… hope this helps, good luck! oh and to fix the hard water problem use baby oil while taking him a bath, it softens the water and makes his skin smooth.. :)

My hedgehog ate baby soap.?
It’s just a simple tear free baby soap I was giving him a bath and suddenly he started to drink the soapy water. Just wondering how dangerous that is for his tummy. Should i give him some bread or something?
Thanks for the help,
Melda

He’ll be fine, but make sure he drinks plenty of water so it can flush out the soapy water inside his tummy.

Question about Dr. Bronner’s Mild Baby Soap in eyes.?
My little boy was taking a bath about 4 hours ago and got a little bit of soap in his eye…I didn’t see any soap, but he was crying and squinting his eyes. I rinsed his eye a little bit….but, you know how that goes with a baby…he didn’t willingly hold his eye open for me or anything, so I splashed water on it basically…anyways, it’s still red and irratated. Has this happened to any of you? On the bottle it said to rinse well with water for 15 minutes and if irratation persists to call the Dr.Does 4 – 5 hours count as persists? Or should I wait until the morning? Thanks ladies!!! Also, his eye has a little glaze look to them….is that normal? Or is it due to the soap getting in them?

Im sure that he will be fine. Maybe you should put a cool compress over his eye just incase. If it still looks red in the morning than you can contact you doctor and ask for more advice. Ohh and when you tried to rince his eye, maybe an eyelash got in there somewhere and that what is causing him the pain. Check his eyes good for any eyelashes etc and try to put some cool compress on it that should help him. Take care and dont give up!!!!

Is this baby rash from bar soap or heat rash?
Today my 10 month old son woke up from his nap with a bumpy red rash on his face, his neck, and his upper body (not his legs). The only thing I did differently today was when I gave him a bath, I used Lever 2000 bar because I ran out of the regular baby soap that I use. The bar soap was new out of the box.

My mother, who always insists that I put too many blankets on him when he sleeps, thinks that it’s a heat rash instead. But I’ve been doing that since birth, and he’s never had any negative side effects like this before. It’s been a pretty humid couple of days, like in the upper 70s.

So what is the likelihood that it is bar soap vs. heat rash? Both of us need peace of mind, and this sort of information is hard to just Google.
All babies have different preferences, anonymous. Not every child follows the textbook example of “what should be”. Several babies that I know, including my own, like the feel of a blanket against their face as they sleep.

i would say its the soap, try washing him with just warm water see if it calms down or put some camoline lotion on to soothe his skin :)

Do you double the amount of detergent in a traditional washer if you buy HE detergernt or just the sa?
I have a traditional washer and my retailer only stocks dreft baby soap in the HE do I have to use more or just use the cup provided and the amount the bottle says

HE detergent is meant for a front loader. That’s what I have to get. It makes less suds and won’t clog and more environmentally friendly. Use the same amount. Roxanne

Yup. That’s why I use organic. No SLS, no Quaternium-15, etc. Check out what else has Quaternium15 too…

baby products being dangerous!?
i just read an article on how so many baby products such as Johnson baby shampoo (which i use) and many others contain all these chemicals that cause cancer and stuff. but i cant find anything that says what products are safe! does anyone know which products are safe cause it said how like out of 100 products tested like 82 of them were linked to cancer and other things so i want to use something on my 2 month old daughter that is not harmful. please someone let me know which ones are safe and which ones aren’t. there are no lists i can find. thank you
i just found that these ones are dangerous!

Johnson’s Baby Shampoo, Baby Magic Baby Lotion, Huggies Baby Wipes, and Sesame Street Bubble Bath

Is it better to use flea shampoo or baby shampoo?
My kitten is only 8 weeks and I found a flea on him. My neighbor has a few kittens that were my kittens siblings. She combed him and didn’t find a flea, but said she found a lot of eggs. I read on one of the questions that dawn isn’t very likely and is dangerous. My pet loving aunt said baby shampoo. I want to know if it is just as sure to kill them as the shampoo is. I want to get a collar just to make sure but I am a little worried about the chemicals it may have. Please help me I don’t want him to suffer from the itching and don’t want him to get infested and have to get them out of my furniture and carpet. Help me please♥

The best thing is to get Frontline or Advantage from your vet to treat the fleas & protect your kitten for the next 4 weeks.

Do NOT purchase a collar as they are useless and can cause more harm than good. There have been many reports of chemical irritations from the collars.

How to measure ketchup pH?
would it possible to determine th pH of ketchup using the pH paper, medicine dropper ?

Which of these might be considered a very dangerous chemical in a household with babies or small children?why?

Aspirin

Bleach

Vinegar

Shampoo

Ammonia

Dishwasher detergent ( by the way, anyone knows what the pH of diswasher detergent is?)

Alka-seltzer
what’s alka-seltzer anyway? and what’s the pH of aspirin? is it acid?

to me I think bleach is “most” dangerous one. because it’s too basic…

Yes. pH paper. Amonia is a strong base, which makes it dangerous with it fumes and its content.

4month Staffy Major skin inflamaition?
My pup started developing inflamed and itchy skin not long after his very first walk on my local field.
The vet gave him tablets, skin scraped for mites but came up with nothing. The tablets didnt seem to have much effect. I considered anything that might have changed since his walk. Fabric conditioner had, so I stopped using that. We’d changed his food over to Pedigree Puppy after i’d realised i’d been feeding him the wrong stuff (Prize Adult food), so I decided to change that to a hypoallergenic one instead so chose Wainwrights puppy 0-1yr….
For a short time the condition seemed to be weakening after the food was changed. I introduced the pedigree puppy tinned meat back into his diet, and the condition seemed to flare SLIGHTLY so i stopped again…
He was advised baby scratch mittens and a puppy t-shirt to stop him scratching his teats badly since they were becoming inflamed however I cant get him to keep the mittens on, t-shirts havnt arrived yet.

Now, several weeks later his skin is suddenly looking a LOT worse. Thick ‘mouldy black’ looking patches had formed under his armpits although these have faded away in the past couple of days, even the sudocrem doesnt seem to be easing him much any more. We’ve bathed him in tea-tree shampoo, johnsons coal tar shampoo and johnsons baby shampoo… also we’ve tried oatmeal bath (this DID work well but cant be used enough times).

I’m at a loss of what to do. Going to call the vet tomorrow to make an appointment. I’m only pleased any allergy testing (£300 for it) will be covered by Pet Plan as I havnt got that kinda money at the moment…. However i’m hoping someone on here might have had a staffy with similar issue and found the cause.

EDIT: also, i stopped using any human/chemical sprays as best as i could or at least well away from him or his bed/toys etc, and also, i’ve read about staffies often being prone to ‘clover grass allergy’ and thinking about it, there is a LOT of clover around my area, however…. he’d been in the garden several weeks before the problem started and there is clover in my garden.
I do however have Honeysuckle, something that is dangerous to dogs but seemingly only when eaten (which my pup doesnt do anyway), and also bluebell type flowers… maybe these could be the issue but I have no way of getting rid of them as they seem to automatically grow back

Please help =(
He’s a staffy…. (Staffordshire Bull Terrier)

Yeah we’ve considered hot spots, but no-one’s given me any advice on what to do aside from what we’re already doing which doesnt seem to be helping much if at all =(

Where can I find fabric used to make baby bath towels?
The baby bath towels you buy in the store are 80% cotton and 20% polyester. They are softer than regular terry cloth towels. Don’t know where to find or what it may be called.

I was thinking you might want polar fleece, so I googled it and found a company www.babypolarfleece.com. They sell baby towels made from it. I used to work at JoAnn’s fabrics and they sell it, but I don’t know what weight fabric you’ll be wanting, and if they still carry it. Hope this helps. Also, there a plenty of places on the web that sell it, if you don’t have a fabric store in your area. I know where I live, I have to travel at least an hour one way to find anything decent.

Where to get nice baby towels from?
I’ve been trying to find some nice soft baby hooded towels but the ones i’ve found so far i haven’t been overlly impressed with. Can anyone tell me where to get really nice ones from, i’m in the UK.
Thank you :)

How necessary are hooded towels and baby wash cloths?
How necessary are hooded towels and baby wash cloths?

I’m aware that they are made of different and softer material and I can imagine that it is probably better for baby’s skin, but it’s really getting close to crunch time and there is still so much stuff left to get. I intend to eventually get them no matter what, but are they an absolute must have especially at the very beginning?.

The hooded towels can be nice in that they are smaller, but they aren’t really necessary. I find them to be too thin except in summer, and not all that absorbent anyway.

I would recommend getting some extra wash cloths, because you will need them. If you don’t want to spend money on baby ones you can get second hand baby blankets (the flannel ones) and just cut them up! Depending on the material it may fray eventually but it will get you through the first while.

Honestly though there isn’t much you actually NEED. The basics are:
1) Carseat if you are ever going to be in a car
2) A safe place to sleep (which can be your bed) if using a crib its recommended that you get a new mattress because the flame retardant chemicals break down over time which may contribute to SIDS. However babies have slept quite nicely in laundry baskets, bread boxes, and dresser drawers. Just make sure that the padding is firm and doesn’t have gaps (though not a concern the first weeks usually as baby doesn’t move)
3) food -breasts are free, you don’t need any nursing bras to start they usually just get in the way
4) love

Anyone know how to make a unique baby carriage centerpiece out of towels?
Anyone know how to make a( centerpiece for a baby shower) baby carriage out of towels/basket?
I seen it somewhere, where someone made a pram/carriage out of towels. The wheels were made out of washclothes/hand towels, also the handle. I think the “carriage look” design was made with 2 oval baskets covered w/towels, then filled w/baby goodies. How were the wheels and everything put together?

5 Green Face washers
4 Pink Face washers
2 White bath towels
1mt Ribbon
Pins
1 Wire coat hanger

Wheels:
Take 1 face washer fold it into quarters length ways and roll it up tightly. Secure with a rubber band. Wrap a second face washer around the rolled up wheel and begin winding it around. Secure with pins.

Handle:
Fold the face washer diagonally to form a long length. Secure with pins.

Base:
Fold two towels into quarters length ways. Roll one up to form a coil. Add then add the second towel and continue winding it around the first coil. This becomes your solid base. Shape it into an oval with your hands. Don’t secure the outer layer just yet as you tuck the wire underneath that layer.

Canopy:
Take a wire coat hanger and bend it into a circle. You can remove the wire hook with pliers or just tuck it underneath the base. The wire will support the towel.

Slide the wire over the base. Wrap the outer layer of the base coil over the wire and continue to wrap the base coil. Secure with pins.

Drape The hand towel over the wire hanger and tuck it under the base. Secure the towel to the wire with pins by forming a hem around the wire.

Decorating:

Add the handle by securing it with a few pins. Add the wheels to sides and secure with pins.

Tie a large ribbon around the base. Add any other embellishments you like, such as lace, flowers etc.
You are only limited by your imagination.

We finished it off by just adding a teddy bear, but you could add baby supplies or just about anything.

You could place the pram onto a cake base, or cardboard base for stability when transporting it.

When did your baby stop using the baby hooded towels?
:) Dolly,
It’s a picture I took of my daughter’s legs & feet when she was sitting on my lap. When people’s avatar pics were being stolen, I switched mine to something cute to me but that no one else would want.

They eventually got too small to wrap him in. Around 1 1/2 I think is when I stopped.

Is it bad for baby geese to eat paper towels?
A friend of mine recently got baby geese but they keep eating the paper towels they use for bedding. Is this bad for them and if so what is a better alternative.

I don’t know that much about geese but I would say no. You can try using shavings for a bedding or magazine papers instead for a bedding.

Hope this helps!

How to care for biracial baby hair? Help!?
I had a mixed baby in April he is now 5 months old, but his hair is starting to get nappy in the back, and gets knotted easy. Is there any special products/techniques I can use to care for his hair? Please help, my poor baby is getting knotty hair, and as a causcasion mother I’m not familiar caring for this type of hair.

Use a GENTLE shampoo, finger comb is best. There are baby shampoos, just try to make sure to wide off their eyes GOING DOWN from their forehead, quickly, to avoid getting suds or water on their eyes. They HATE THAT! My 3 years old grand baby, hated that. Use a conditioner, if you have to, but I have a feeling your baby’s hair gets knotty because they’re wavy, but I do not suggest trying to untangle them when they’re wet, they are more difficult. Wait until they’re towel dried or air dried. I don’t even brush my very, very long hair until they’re 95% dried.

When they have a bubble bath, getting the suds from the tub water, is fine too, just make sure you rinse well after.

They are all formulated for fine baby’s hair, of ANY RACE.

10 month old mixed baby hair care question?
hi i have a 10 month old daughter. her father is white and i am black. well my daughters hair is more on the curly side but its really fine. i used some of my natural hair shampoo in her hair and her dad got mad at me but reading the ingredients on the baby shampoo and the natural shampoo , my shampo had less chemicals and more natural stuff so i figured no harm. he would not let me use my conditioner. Now i am new at this parenting thing not to mention i have no idea how to take care of mixed hair. my husband made me feel like the worst mother in the world, someone please tell me how to take care of mixed hair. if i should just stick to baby shampo then please tell me how to take care of her hair in the future. again her hair is on the loose, curly, fine, side. please dont say mean things my husband allready made me feel bad enough

How do I take care of “ethnic” baby hair?
I am white, my husband is african and I ‘m expecting my baby girl any day now. I know her hair texture is going to be different than mine and I need to know what to do to take care of it. Do I need to put oil in it, how often to wash it, types of brushes, styles, etc… Any information will be helpful. Thanks!

whathe hell is ethnic hair ..how about curly hair!

How do I care for my baby girls hair?
Okay I am about to have a baby girl in less than 2 months( my 1st baby, so excited) Her father is black, I’m hispanic with naturally curly hair so odds are my baby is probably gonna have african american hair which me being hispanic I have no idea how to take care of. Anyone have any advice or tips or certain shampoo I should use?

Try to use shampoos that are as natural as possible and avoid chemical based products. Dont wash your baby’s skin or hair with products that contains sodium lauryl sulfate (SLS/SLES) as it is an irritant and is drying. I have a yahoo hair care group for people with biracial children’s hair. You’re welcomed to join and can pick up tips and product advice there if you need it. I can also help you with hair styles in the future. The group is really informative.

What is a good baby hair care product.?

Aveeno makes good “all natural” types of baby hair care products. Johnson & Johnson products are good (you know, the “No More Tears” stuff). Also, Huggies makes hair care products.

Where can i get dry disposable washcloths for my newborn baby?
My hospital provided dry washcloths for diaper changes. but cant figure out where can i get it.

I have no clue either. Try asking the hospital. I mean, I have a recipe for homemade baby wipes using only simple ingredients and paper towels. If you want it e-mail at jtapc101290@yahoo.com or just Google it, something should come up.

Disposable baby washcloths?
Who here has used disposable baby washcloths before? Are they any good? Is it better to use these or a regular washcloth? Or do you use them both together? Like use a regular washcloth first and then use the disposable wash cloth.

I recieved some for my babyshower, and I’m not exactly sure how good they are if used by themself. I don’t know of anyone else who has used them before either.

I have some disposables, and they work just fine. I just prefer using a washcloth because it’s what I’m used to. The disposable ones work just as well, it’s just something new to adjust to.

pre-soaped disposable baby washcloths?
Does anyone know why you cannot buy the huggies natural care washcloths or the johnson’s baby washcloths anymore? I went to babies r us and target and they are out and won’t be ordering anymore…. then i went online and i typed in my zip code and nowhere in a 30mile radius is selling these. Did they get recalled? Does anyone know what’s going on or where to buy these?
i wanted them for vacation, i dont use them in a day to day bath time for my daughter

I know! I was so upset to see these gone! I used to take them camping with us… super easy to wash their dirty feet before bed after a day at the beach or whatnot.

I think people just thought they were too expensive (they were) for everyday use KWIM?

Where can I buy some excellent quality (soft, gentle) baby washcloths?
I live in Northern California.
Thanks!

I like Carters Brand.
Not carters child of mine, but Carters.
You can get them at a lotta different places, just type them in Google…
Also Mervyns, JcPenneys, KidsRus…

What can I use as a baby moisturizer that’s not oily?
I am having so much trouble making my own baby wipes! I’m using baby washcloths and spraying them with a cleansing solution. The original plan was to use baby oil and baby wash, but I fear the oil will hinder the absorbency of ALL my cloth diapers (wipes will be laundered with diapers). I’ve tried Lanolin, too, but it’s extremely oily also. Would olive oil work? I know it’s fine to use on my baby, but will it come out of everything in the wash?

Any oil is going to be oily and will leave oil stains… and will also eventually turn rancid and leave your cloths and diapers stinking. You really don’t need much more than water to clean a baby (figure you use dry paper on yourself) if you want to add a bit of baby wash then follow up with a baby lotion for moisturizing if that’s important… if baby has a rash use A&D zinc cream.

Cloth Baby Wipes? Washcloths?
I’ve been using paper towels and clean water to wipe my baby, but I’m now seeing that cloth wipes may be a lot cheaper, and better for the environment.

So what do you recommend? How do you wash them? The thought of putting a messy washcloth in the hamper with our dirty clothes is awful, so do I keep a separate hamper for the wipes?
Any suggestions on what kind of cloths to use? Just soft washcloths?

Hmm. Maybe I could just use cloth for the wet diapers, and continue using paper towels for poopy diapers. Hmmm.

Thank you for the help!
Actually, wet paper towels are just as soft as wipes, and they don’t have any chemicals on them. Once a day I wash her bottom with baby wash. The paper towels are much cheaper than wipes, and I don’t have to worry about chemicals.

I use the cheap baby washcloths you can get at any department store. They’re just the right size, and they have a smooth side, which is very gentle on baby skin. And, since I run the cloth under warm water just before a diaper change, the baby always has nice warm wipes.
Unless the wipe is really poopy, I don’t worry about rinsing it; it comes out in the wash.
I toss them, and my cloth diapers, in a garbage pail with a tight-fitting pop-up lid and wash them every 2-3 days. A cold rinse first, then hot water with regular detergent (use about half the recommended amount to avoid soap build-up in diapers, which can get really stinky), and an extra rinse will get them good and clean.
If you’re only using the washcloths for wet diapers and you’re not using cloth diapers — toss them in with your regular towel load. Pee is basically sterile, and there will hardly be any on the washcloth anyway. (I keep a bucket in the laundry room just for washcloths and hand towels. To keep them from getting stinky, I hang them over the side of the bucket to dry, then drop them in. When the bucket is full, it’s time to wash a load of towels.)

Can I make natural baby shampoo?
Hi,

I hope you parents have read the recent media attention to possible carcinogens tested in baby toiletries (links to sources below).

Granted these are trace amounts so small that they aren’t listed on the ingredients label. But does anyone know what the cumulative effects are over time?

While the right thing to do is to petition industry and the politicians to make changes, it’s going to take a long time to do.

We could buy natural baby-safe shampoos, like those from California Baby (www.californiababy.com), but they are EXPENSIVE.

So my question: does anyone know how to make homemade, natural baby-safe toiletries? Shampoo, lotion, soap, etc.

Even if you don’t know how to make it, please share your opinions on natural baby-safe store-bought toiletries.

Thanks,
Roland (father to 5-month old Kenzie)

I make my own castile soap, it is extremely mild and natural. I use it in everything from household cleaning, shampoo, baby wipe solution, I’ve even brushed my teeth with it! It takes only 3 ingredients: water, lye, and olive oil. It takes me 20 minutes to make it and another 2-3 weeks for the soap to “cure”. Google soapmaking, saponification, lye calculator, castile soap, etc… Handmade castile soap is very expensive in shops, even Dr Bonner’s is $15 for 16 ounces. I make my own for about .50 cents.

Big Pharmacy is now the major industry in USA? What does this say about us (U.S.)?
If you watch TV or listen to radio, you may have noticed that a large proportion of the ads are for drugs.
I understand this is a natural reaction to the baby boomers entering retirement age, but let’s review the past trends in advertising.

I remember in the 60s it was soap. “Ring around the collar”.
Brought to you by the same chemical companies which brought Agent Orange to Viet Nam.

In the 70s it was fashion. Synthetic fabrics like doubleknit pants. Made from oil of course…
Brought to you by the same chemical companies which brought Agent Orange to Viet Nam.

In the 80s it was cars. “What’s good for General Motors is good for America”.
Brought to you by labor unions.

In the 90s it was the tech boom; Moor’s Law that processor speed doubles every 18 months.
Brought to you by China.

In the 21st Century it’s drugs.
(possible side effects may include

Is this why American productivity continually increases but we are all getting poorer? Why innovation seams to have ceased but viagra commercials are omnipresent? Is an ageing population going to kill America?

And what can we do about it?

Many commercials for drugs are also for contraceptives and autoimmune disease as well as the Purple pill. They wouldn’t even say what that was for. Those would be for younger and middle aged people. Drugs are twice as costly in the US than anywhere else in the world. Boomers were the reason the US surged to great heights until now. Our own needs created a great economy based on consumerism but consumerism is being done away with in case you haven’t noticed. Choices are just too confusing according to the left. Also they don’t trust us to make good choices so they are taking away our choices and giving us what they believe is best. Aren’t they special.

Add to those drug commercials the ads put up by attorneys for lawsuits brought about by people who have experienced the side effects and birth defects caused by the new drugs. Billions are paid out each year to parents of children who became autistic due to the required vaccinations for children. This is a well kept secret but the vaccinations remain required.

Our government has turned on us. Its obvious to anyone who looks. I guess we are all supposed to put our 401k’s in pharmaceuticals.

If you could write for your soap, what storylines would you have?
For me: Katherine would run a charity and find a nice old man with whom she can fall in love.
Jill would bring Chancellor Industries into the storyline. It would take Jabot’s place. I would bring in a few fresh faces (both sexes) of varying ages.
I would fire Amber & give Daniel a real job. ( They’re getting too old to place the kids)
Bring back the old Colleen who finds herself pregnant with Prof. A..hole’s baby. That would be a storyline.
Adam should get together with Mackenzie (yes bring back a new good one.) Chancellor & NE together? Whew.
Michael & Lauren should have another baby.
Miss Monk- ROFL we soo think alike. Serial killer! Yes that’s exactly what Adam needs to be.

Jus Jaz- Donna’s son Marcus and Lily would be fantastic! ( He is soo hot.)

You know the way something dramatic happens at the end to make you tune in next week. – if i was writer i’d love to have a white flash and a giant mushroom cloud appear in the distant background – then credits

A quick question about whaling…?
Hi, just a quick question to any whalers out there or people with contacts in the whaling industry. Do you happen to have any good links to distribution firms interested in purchasing soap made from baby mink whale fat?

I have 3 tons of the stuff and would like to get rid of it sharpish – ebay seems illequipped to deal with my requirements. I can freight the stuff anywhere internationally.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Why should this be under fishing Shane? Whales are mamals.

Actually I would have been interested because you can make some fantastic Mr Whippy ice cream with a bit of whale fat but my girlfreinds been at the mince pies over the festive season to say the least (she’s over 8 stones now) and I’m sending her in for drastic liposuction this evening so I’ll knock some up with that. You could try the body shop though. Not sure who you would need to speak to now that dyke Roddick sold out to some corporate chemical giant but I know a lot of their products contain whale fat. It’s good quality stuff.

How do you rate the acting prowess of Rain in his film “Ninja Assassin” for his Hollywood quest?
I only seen the trailer of the movie ‘Ninja Assassin’, and I think it is pretty good. That is why I am asking those who have seen it and tell me what you think. Koreans are already showing some form either in music like the blockbuster song ‘nobody’ by the wonder girls and now they are embarking on the quest for a Hollywood fame. While we Filipinos are still watching soap opera over the television, crying our hearts out. I remember once I suggest that we make a movie all Filipinos are speaking in English for international marketing, some says it will never worked. I think the problem is not speaking in English but script writing. We do not have good story teller. Direktor bakla, script writer bakla, camera man bakla, PR bakla, lahat halos ng tao sa movie industry are gays. I have nothing about gays, but when it comes to making good script iba talaga ang lalake. Look how Steven Spielberg make movies and tell a story. Fascinating. Medyo magiisip ka while watching the movie. In the Philippines, trailer pa lang alam mo ng story line. Like the previous Filipino movies ‘And I love you so’ and ‘In my life”. Our Filipino actors or actresses are merely acting while in the US actresses like Demi Moore are not actresses only but artist in their own category. I admired here in the movie G.I. JANE, na nagtraining pa sya for 6 months and have to cut her whole hair for the role. Now that is dedication and utmost devotion to her craft. She can do the push up with one hand. Now compare that to a Filipino female actress who can do the same. I cannot think of one. Another one, Hilary Ann Swank, an academy award actresses of ‘Boys don’t cry’ and ‘Million dollar baby’. In ‘Boys don’t cry’ nagpakita sya ng upper portion of her boobs, dito sa atin na MTRCB na yon at na cut na, while in ‘Million dollar baby’ obvious na nagtraining sya how to box in real life. Ano ba ang kalimitan suot ng isang nakatira while she or he is at her own home, sapatos ba or slippers? Hindi tayo magaling mag conceptualize ng scene or how to project the idea of the character in the film. We shall never reach the door of Hollywood hanggang gutter lang tayo.

And now the Koreans are influencing our lives as well as the lives of the entire world. There are also Koreans shops in the Philippines, next thing we know the Koreans are buying the Philippines. I am not surprised the Filipino girls are going gaga over the Korean nobela ‘Boys over flowers’ which I think is where Rain originated from and now hitting hard for his film Ninja Assassin. While the world is revolving around us, a Filipino is eating fish ball and a sago in a plastic cup to quench his thirst in one corner of the street and watching the vehicles passes by.
In my previous question, some says it not English that can make it to Hollywood because some films can be dubbed in English. Jacky Chan & Jet Li in some of their films have to learn English one way or another, Jacky’ first US film the Protector in 1984, a Chinese cop who speak English and it was a flopped. It took him 7 more years to penetrate Hollywood because he concentrated filming mostly in Europe, it was Shanghai Knight 1 &2 and Rush Hour1&2 that catapult him to stardom in the US and the rest is history. While Jet Li in the movie “kiss of the dragon” he managed to speak broken English. So who is telling me English is not necessary in order to move to Hollywood? Plus the fact that Chinese are very good script writers compared to Filipinos, who’s only audience are merely for domestic consumption. It is time we change the way we think. But the way things are going I don’t think we can change it overnight.

I think you made a strong point about movies with English titles but are actually Tagalog movies. I am not a movie making professional but I think this is a no no. Since these movies are shown nationwide, you can have non-Pinoy tourists inadvertently buying tickets who could not understand the show. I recall there were Filipino indie movies that won in Cannes and Venice and they were good. We saw a couple in the States. Such an abundance of talent actually for the country but unfortunately their quality movies would not sell in the Philippines. The best thing for you to do is write your congressman and senator so they can do something about the sad state of the Phil. movie industry. I hope the country can come up with a Sundance Festival type of competition where talents are showcased. Sadly most movie professionals who earn big bucks in their careers turn to politics so the local movie industry is left to digress and never improve much. Stop comparing it with Holywood, it will only frustrate you as it is like night and day. Hollywood is a more than a $10 billion a year industry where everyone strives to be the best and they are ‘the best’.

Now i am new at this parenting thing not to mention i have no idea how to take care of mixed hair. my husband made me feel like the worst mother in the world, someone please tell me how to take care of mixed hair. if i should just stick to baby shampo then please tell me how to take care of her hair in the future. again her hair is on the loose, curly, fine, side. please dont say mean things my husband allready made me feel bad enough

go to mixchicks.com

how to take care of a mixed babies hair?
My daughter has crazy hair!! Im white and her dad is black and puerto rican. to start off shes 2 and has really curly hair. the back of her hair is african american type hair and the top is white people hair. so do i grease it or what lol???

my daughter is mixed black white i wash her hair every other day and when she is in the bath i brush it out with cream rinse and put ALOT of moisturizer in it…at night i wash it and braid it into six braids and it is alot easier to manage in the morning

How to care for a mixed childs hair?
I am pregnant with my second child and he or she will be half black. I know that mixed people have a hair type all their own not exactly like a white person or black person but somewhere in between. I want to hear from parents of mixed children what do you do that might be different to take care of your babies hair and when it is time for a little product what kinds keep it healthiest and looking good.

I am assuming this is white and black mix??
My son is half black half Mexican and he has gorgeous hair. His hair is gently curly not tight curls or “nappy”. After I give him a bath i usually just put a little bit of Vaseline in my hands and just massage it in his hair. Then in the morning or whenever I use a detangler and just comb thru his hair. Sometimes if i don’t have any Vaseline around i use baby lotion just to moisturize his hair. I looked online for mixed baby hair products and found a product line called Curls or Curlz and bought a product for babies called ItsACurl. It’s like a natural oil that adds shine a moisture, its works pretty good i guess. But every mixed baby is different I hope you get a good batch of hair : )

Mixed baby hair…….?
ive been doing my research on mixed baby hair and see that a lot of people get mad at people on here for asking once theyre child is like 6 months instead of doing research before hand…SO IM DOING MY RESEARCH NOW (: lol….anywayyyysssss

my daughter is black/white, she has a curly afro. i put in tea tree oil & brush it. i wash it maybe twice a week (a baby’s hair does not get dirty), it will get dry if you wash it too much. she did have cradle cap & it went away after i stopped washing it so much, DO NOT USE BABY OIL! go to the ethnic section & get oil from there.

Possibly a Rocking Chair.

Can you think of anything else? Thanks. :)

Highchair, thermometer, baby book, syringe for mucus, baby on board sign, the scrren for the car window, that cover thingy for the shopping cart

What should I do with an injured, wild baby rabbit?
My dog grabbed a baby rabbit after my cat chased it under our fence to the back yard. He didn’t try to kill it, but he accidentally broke its left back leg while grabbing it. We put it in a box with a small saucer of water, a nest made of some washcloths, a small stuffed animal and some rabbit pellets that the feed store gave me when I asked them what to feed it. We put a light sweater over the top of the box to keep it from hopping out.
It’s hopping around and trying to get away from us when we try to give it more water and stuff, so it’s not really in shock or traumatized or anything. I was wondering if I should put it outside in the garden later tonight so its mama can find it or it can find its way home or something?
What should I do with it?

What is your baby….?
- eating
- doing
- playing with/in
- sleeping in
- bathing in?

My daughter is eating rice cereal & baby food purees as well as her formula still, when she gets a little older we are going to try meat purees ( from jar ) and juice as well.
( and please, I don’t need a lecture how to feed or when to feed my daughter, she is eating due to Dr’s orders and she is doing just fine & healthy. )

She is just starting to learn how to pull herself up with furniture & bigger toys, and she is also learning how to hold her bottle herself too! I think she’s in the really early stages of teething because she gets a little irritable sometimes until you rub her gums or give her a cool facecloth/teething toy.

She is playing with stuffed animals and teething rings a lot lately, and she plays with washcloths ( soaked in cool water. ) & her frog ( he is attached to her crib & makes music, has flashing lights and assorted things she can touch on it. ) & she loves her rubber duck in the tub.

She is sleeping in her crib, she has since 3 months but before that she was in a bassinet.

She has baths with me sometimes depending on how much time we have or if I am pressed for time she will have a bath in her own little tub.

Share about your LO!
& what are you up to today? ( i’m bored and my babe’s sleeping STILL! LOL )

I’m waiting for my LO to wake up & have breakfast and for my mom to get here. I think were going shopping today which would be nice because I only get out once a week for grocery shopping.

:)

Baby fussier and may be teething at 3 months?
My baby will be turning 3 months old in a couple of days and he is fussier than ever. He has been fussy since day one but he improved over the past two weeks up until a couple of days ago and he is worse than before. I’m pretty sure he is teething as he chews on anything he can get his hands on. I rub his gums to give him some pain relief and it seems to work for awhile but not for to long. Teething rings are to big to fit in his mouth and the stuffed animals with rubbers hands and feet seem to hurt him when he bites them. I’ve tried cold, wet washcloths and he doesn’t like them. What else can I do to help him? His sleeping pattern at night was two hours at a time before this and now he doesn’t want to sleep at all. I’m at my wits ends with the crying and I’m soooo sleep deprived I’m going crazy. Someone told me to give him a green onion because it numbs the gum but I’m kind of leary. Any suggestions at all?

honestly you don’t want to continously give your baby tylenol as it can really cause liver problems.

It does sound like your little one is teething. I recommend getting some ora-gel asap!
Anything frozen such as the icy pops that you don’t open but melt into the liquid form that they come in before you freeze. That should fit his mouth.

Also, Frozen apples or bananas cut up large enough (think long, thick strips that are the size of carrots) so that he can’t swallow it.

Try a soothing bath in the evening as well with the lavendar or vapors. That might help.

Are you sure that your baby doesn’t have reflux? Also, are you sure that he is getting enough to eat. If he is waking so often maybe he isn’t getting his fill. If you are breastfeeding talk with your doc about your milk production maybe it needs to be increased. Or maybe you can start introducing rice into his bottles.

Any baby shower ideas? ?
My best friend aka (Sister-4-Life) is having a baby due in April…she’s a teen mother, and we as her bestest friends are planning to give her a “surprise” baby shower. However we need more ideas…I have few planned here they are…
1. Select a theme for the shower….she likes Bratz and she is 15…..
2. Create your own decorations. place a framed photo of the parents-to-be on the gift table for a personal touch. Be sure to provide the mother-to-be with her own special chair next to the gifts and mark it by tying Balloons at the entrance.
4.Make a memorable centerpiece, Diaper cake or A stuffed animal in a basket with baby stuff surrounding it.
5.Decide on the menu. It can simply be cake and punch, chicken wings, Finger foods, sandwiches, fruit or fresh vegetable tray, Nachos and dip, chips n dip, assorted cubed cheeses and crackers, chicken salad, cookies, deviled egges. pasta salad.
6.Plan a variety of games: Some more active games are “Baby Hot Potato” where you pass a baby doll around a circle while you play a lullaby. Whoever is holding the baby when the music stops is out. Keep going until one person is left. Or “Diaper a Doll while Blind-folded.” All you need is a doll, a diaper and safety pins and a dark blind-fold. “Baby Bottle Drink-off” is a hilarious game.”
7.Gift Ideas for the mommy-to-be a thermometer, pacifiers, bottle, formula, liners (depending on the bottles preferred by mom), nail clipper kit, washcloths, hair brush and comb, travel bag dispenser that gives you a small bag to put dirty diapers into, a new outfit, burp cloth, nasal aspirator, a few diapers, and wipes. Johnson&Johnson also makes a take along pack that has travel size sampling of shampoo, desitin, lotion, powder, baby wash, and a soothing naturals nourishing lotion. Photo Album.
Make a coupon book good for:
•Whenever you need a baby sitter
•1 afternoon babysitting

•1 evening babysitting

•1 afternoon of errand-running
Baby tree- Make something that could hold money for the new born baby

What do you all think, are there anymore ideas for the theme, food, decorations, and how to set it up well for the surprise. I was thinking of holding it at our school in the commons area. Over by that way its a cafeteria where she can go and she will not see anything. That way they can make their way down that trail and then she will open her eyes and see what we have planned.

I like baby animal themes – then there is a lot of room for you to make your own games, decorations. there is also a guessing game where everyone guesses how big around they think the mother-to-be is at the largest part of her belly. I’m giving you a link below that has lots more baby shower ideas (even recipes for food and stuff).

What is a good baby bath seat for a newborn baby?
What brand is good and good for a baby. I am scared to give the baby a bath because it gets slippery so I thought a bath seat would make it easier..
What is a good natural product I can use to clean the baby while giving a bath?

I used a “Fisher Price Aquarium Bath Seat” It has 3 different stages on it for when baby is newborn & it changes for when baby gets a little older. YOU DO NOT HAVE TO WORRY ABOUT NEWBORN BABY SLIPPING!! as they are actually in a lying position in seat.

I had an Aquarium Baby Bath and I no problems and found it safer then any other ordinary baby bath!

I have given you link for aquarium bath on ebay so you can see what they look like.

Baby Bath Seats and Rings?
My 6.5 month old son is too tall for his bath tub – I think he’s ready to sit in the adult tub with support. (he can sit up but still falls over often) I’m looking into getting a bath seat or ring such as http://www.walmart.com/catalog/product.do?product_id=7977227

I’d like to find one with toys built in it — what kind of bath seat/ring did you use on your baby?? How did it work out?

That’s the same one I used for my son. It worked really well for a good amount of time until he was big enough to sit in the tub on his own. There aren’t toys built in but having little rubber duckies or something floating around the tub was always easy for him to play with anyway. It’s inexpensive and it works! GoodLuck

Baby bath swivel seats?
I am a new mom again “surprise”!! My question is concerning bath seats: I cannot find them in the store. I have a baby that is 7 months old and would like something to sit him in to bath him. My older kids had swivel seats, and I cannot find them in the stores anymore. Only on ebay. Did they recall them or are they unsafe?

i got one 4 years ago at walmart.
i’m pretty sure i seen them there recently too.

Baby/Toddler bath seats?
I am looking to purchase a baby/toddler bath seat for my 7 month old baby. I think she will have a great time playing in the big tub. Plus her baby bath is starting to get small. I want to know what you have and how you like it.

I have looked at the ring type things and the inflatable type things and even like a sponge ring type thing. I just don’t know which one to get. Any site or photos of one would be great and where you purchased it.

I would like this to be able to be used for some time like until she is able to take a regular bath with out one (at least until 2-3 years old).

Thank you so much for your knowledge.

Hello : Where did you find that bath ring?? Online?

http://www.rightstart.com/global/search/default.aspx?keyword=bath%20ring

I just bought this from Right Start! Its a baby catalog company! I actually ordered their catalog-never received it, but needed this bath ring as they are hard to find anywhere! So I just ended up buying it via internet.

What is your favorite baby bath seat?
My daughter is almost 8 months old and too big for her baby bath. I’d like her to have a seat that is comfortable, she can sit up and play in, and of course is safe. Amazon.com has several that I’ve looked at. Im worried about it slipping around, or her being to big. She is about 23 pounds. Please tell me your experience, and what you use. Thanks!

I never used a bath seat for my little one. When she was too big for a baby bath she just sat in the tub!

I cant find a baby bath seat?
I cannot seem to find a baby bath seat. the kind that the baby can sit up in. babies r us doesnt sell them? Y cant i find one? ne one know where i can get one?

Walmart!

lotion on frizzy hair?
ok so i have horrible frizzy death hair and i cut my own bangs the other day. i always use to use a straightening iron for my bangs that i had before but i didnt really like it. it just dries it out and yuck. so the other day i bought some baby shay butter lotion for my nephew and as i was puting it on him, i pushed my bangs back with my lotioney hands and then when i wen to fix my hair, it looked really nice!

its not like im gunna put it all over my hair because i always have it in a pony tail anyways but i looooove it on my bangs. my hair is so dry and frizzy, its good to get more grease in it. they dont look like greasey hair, lotion actually turns them into like normal hair.

is it safe? if i use it all the time. my mother said as long as it is baby lotion with no alcohol, it shouldnt do any damage. i have used soo many different frizz-easers and gel and everything and this makes me soooooooo happy, it works so good i was amazed.

Try using Restorative Hair Treatment by Ojon. It looks like a pomade, but when you put it into your hands it melts like an oil. Look into QVC website for the product. You can use it as a hot oil treatment and rinse out or leave it in. If your hair is frizzy try this product line. My daughter is bi-racial and i use this product on her. The shampoos and conditioners are great too. As a professional Hairstylist I enjoy this line of products. You can use the restorative oil for straight ironing as well. I use it for my daughters ironing. Hope that helps

I just want to share the news but most importantly the HOPE!?
For all those TTC! May God bless you all and may he bring all those TTC loads of sticky baby dust!
Just to share a little, DH and I have been together for 8 1/2 years and although we haven’t been TTC that long, we never used protection since we started being sexually active. We got married in February of this year yet we started actively TTC#1 since October of 2008, so this month was month #9 TTC!
Thankfully this was our month!
I got a BFP this past Saturday (6/27) and DH and I are overjoyed. We cried together of happyness and we are hoping that all goes well and I have a healthy pregnancy!

I just want to tell all of you TTC that it’ll happen, I thought I’d never get a BFP!

These are some of the things I did, some are goofy, but I was getting desperate and trying anything.

Had intercourse every day during my fertile period and the day of ovulation, I charted my basal body temperature everyday and used ovulation prediction strips from (early-pregnancy-tests.com) When I got a positive we BD’ed once a day.
Kept my hips elevated after intercourse for about 10 to 15 minutes. I orgasmed every time we did the deed, right after DH did, hoping I’d suck the swimmers into my cervix.
I also heard about an old wives tail about putting a wooden spoon under the bed when TTC – - – crazy I know… but I did it! LOL
I’d rub baby lotion every night before BD just on my hands, arms and neck.
Obviously I kept eating healthy, and had no caffeine, nor alcohol, lots of water, etc
I took 400 mg of Folic Acid Daily since the first day of my period.
Oh yes! DH also is very supersticious and he told me to go to this lady he’s heard about that does abdominal massages for fertility, so I went to her. It’s somewhat a holistic approach to fertility. (I think these are called Maya Abdominal Massage
Believers in this massage consider that some women may have a block and they consider that block often to be physical. They believe that the uterus can get prolapsed and that their form of massage can help realign it and promote fertility.
This was fairly simple, and it relaxed me and helped me feel good. It DID NOT HURT! I did wear a lumbar support ( I bought at Home Depot) for 2 days and that was a tad bit uncomfortable.

So there you go, that’s pretty much what I did!

Ladies, don’t lose hope! You too will be blessed with your baby. Just pray, hope, and believe.

Good luck and baby dust!

OH ALSO! I ALREADY HAVE A BOY NAME AND PART OF A GIRL’S NAME PICKED OUT. I NEED HELP WITH THE MIDDLE NAME FOR A GIRL.
I LIKE THE NAME HAILEY, WHAT IS A GOOD MIDDLE NAME THAT WILL FLOW WELL WITH HAILEY?

THANK YOU!

Thanks alot for sharing this great news and wonderful hope. Reading this brought tears to my eyes. i have been married for nearly 3 years aand my hubby didn’t want kids period, and it was very hard for me and made me think of leaving many times, and suddenly last month he said he was ready to try for a baby and so this is our first month trying. It’s CD 28 of 32 days, I have been feeling some cramping, breast veins show alot now, moody, apetit up and down and really tired, but I read here that it can be my body tricking me . I really hope and pray that it’s not and I wish this is my month and that I will get my BFP in the coming few days. If i get my AF i will be reallyyyyyy disappointed . I am truly happy for u and wish u all the best and great 9 months with a beautiful baby at the end :)

Good luck, and keep us updates :)

Need help with daughter’s diaper changes?
We were using a combination of baby powder, baby lotion and rubbing alcholol. It started out as redish, almost like a rash, so we eliminated everything but the rubbing alcohol and added more..Now it’s even worse. She cries from the time she wakes up to the time she goes to bed in pain. So no more diapers for now according to the doctor. But how much more rubbing alcohol is necessary to stop the rash infection, we are up to a half bottle a day and her poor little bum is red and swollen as can be.
And are rectal cleanses recommended for follow up after the rash clears?
Please help, I can’t handle her screaming 10 hours a day, I need her quiet and such.
The rubbing alcohol mainly added in good amounts for the infection, only a minimal amount is actually given via an enema for internal cleansing per say.

U should use cornflour trust me it works wonders every time u change her nappy or bath her put some fresh cornflour sure its messy but it is probley the best and cheapest it sucks up all the mositure so if she pees it keeps her dry…..i know it sounds crazy but is a family home remedy…..try it u will see alot of inprovement in a day or two…..

Does Petrolatum Draw Out Ink For Tattoos?
I am currently using Aveeno Baby lotion to moisturize my new tattoo. It contains petrolatum but I have no idea if it will affect the ink or healing process in any way. Here’s the ingredients:

Active Ingredients: Dimethicone

Inactive Ingredients: Water, Glycerin, Distearyldimonium Chloride, Petrolatum, Isopropyl Palmitate, Cetyl Alcohol, Oat (Avena Sativa) Flour, Allantoin, Benzyl Alcohol, Sodium Chloride

Are there any ingredients that could affect the outcome of my tattoo? Would it be okay if I switch to TattooGoo later on? (I don’t have the time to go purchase it right now, I really regret it for not buying it when I was there. I will probably get it within the week.)

Non-petroleum and unscented is def the way to go. And pref more water base than alcohol. But you don’t have to buy expensive tattoo creams. A plain old sorbolene or Vitamin E cream or gel will work just as well – as long as it’s unfragranced etc. Even better if it says it’s for sensitive skin.

If you continue to use Aveeno in the meantime apply it to the tattoo sparingly. Just a light coating will do – do not smother or slather it in cream. Actually that’s the trick with any cream. A light coating of anything is enough. Too much cream might fade the tatt or draw the ink out.

Good luck

skin rash or what?
I have had a dry, itchy spot on my breast, the size of a quarter, just above the nipple, for 3 or 4 months now. I recall hearing that rashes on the breast can be a sign of a rare type of brest cancer.Am I being paranoid? Does anyone know more about this or have any suggestions like creams or lotions. I have tried Noxzema, alcohol, jergens, baby powder, shea butter, aloe, baby oil, even doing nothing for a week, but it never heals or changes.

Please no rude comments, it isn’t ring worm, and I am clean and bathe daily.

Go to a dermatologist and….when it comes to wondering if you are paranoid about cancer, who cares..it’s your body and if you want to be checked for any reason that is your right! My sister never smoked a day in her life, and wasn’t exposed to chemicals or radon. She started having lung problems and the Dr. said Asthma. But she wasn’t sure and decided if she pushed it he would think she was paranoid. That was 7 years ago. Right now today she has cancer on her brain that metastasized from her lungs, and she will not see another birthday,Christmas or probably July 4th celebration. It is deeply deeply sad. And it could have been prevented if she had not felt paranoid about a misdiagnosis. it’s your body, your quality of life and literally your life. Fight for it!! If someone thinks your paranoid you will be able to say “you bet I am! And I’m alive to tell you about it. God bless. Take care of you!!

www.freecycle.org.

Go to this website and it will help you locate free items near you that people are giving away. My sister did this and got a lot of baby stuff she needed that was in good condition. Also look in your area for a crisis pregnancy center place. Most of them have programs that will help moms obtain the items they need and for free. Also you can go to wic and obtain formula and other items you might need. Go ahead and look in your area for yard sales. Some people if you explain your situation will help you out or sale you some items for dirt cheap. You need to check your local churches and other outreach programs in your area to see if they have any assistance type programs that will help you out. If you do some research I am sure you will find the items you need before you child get here. Good luck and Congrats.
