Baby Shampoo market – Baby Shampoo
Do you know of any non toxic baby wash, shampoo, bubble bath out there on the market?
Every time I give my 2 year old daughter a bath, she loves to drink the water/ put the bubbles in her mouth. I talked to her pediatrician about this and she said its fine, most kids do this and it is normal. I currently use Method bubble bath, shampoo and baby wash and I looked on the back to see if these were non toxic and it didn’t say. I know a lot of Method products are non toxic, but these don’t say. Do you know of any that are non toxic? Thanks for your help!
With the pediatrician’s blessing I wouldn’t worry too much about it, since just by using Method you’re using a safer (gentler / cleaner) product for your 2 year old.
You’re right, the “non-toxic” label is missing from Method’s advertising for the baby products and it’s not on the label. Personally, though, I’d trust them. We use their counter top wipes, dish soap, and hand soap at home.
If you want to go one step further, you could go with Dr. Bronner’s (or other brand) castille soap. The ingredients listed are a variety of natural vegetable oils that you really can eat. There’s an unscented “Baby Mild” version that I like to use on the baby. Personally, I use the lavender to help relax during evening showers or the peppermint for morning showers.
Mommy prefers Mustela for our 3 month old for the smell and how well it works. Though it may not be as “natural” as the above mentioned brands it has a good reputation and was recommended by our pediatrician.
In the end, you’re doing right by your daughter. These products are absorbed by our skin, in our eyes, and are generally safe. Before we know it, our kids will be in high school and we’ll have other things to worry about (mine’s growing like a weed!).
Update: The liquid Dr Bronner’s soap cleans great but doesn’t make much suds. You mix a squirt or two with a few gallons of water (or less) and clean with a wash cloth. This combined with the fact it doesn’t taste too nice (bleh – I just tasted the baby mild version), might reduce incidents of bubble-blowing and digestion by your 2 year old!
Baby Shampoo bad – Baby Shampoo
Is baby shampoo bad for your hair?
I’ve read on the internet that it’s bad for your hair because it doesn’t clean it that much but to be honest I find normal shampoo to be more damaging with all the chemicals in it. I’ve tried baby shampoo on saturday ( I only wash my hair once a week) and I don’t think it’s bad at all, in fact my hair felt nice after using it…
it’s not! it’s actually healthier then regular shampoo because new born babies have sensitive care and therefore their shampoos like for example johnsons baby shampoo is just simply made with more quality and texture.
its much healthier and better for your hair, the only thing thats damaging is conditionar.

Baby shampoo?
I have long, wavey, dry natural hair. I have tried every possible shampoo including hebal, pantene, tigi, tresemme, redken the list goes on. My hair hates shampoos! im now down to 2 i can think of mane and tail shampoo and johnsons baby detagling shampoo. Are these any good?
Thanks everyone!
Do you use a conditioner after you shampoo? This helps to moisturise the hair shaft.
If you do already or if you dont ;
If your hair is really dry I would recommend that you use a hair mask 2 or 3 times a week to help make it softer, shinier and stronger.
You can also buy serums and leave in conditioners that will be really helpful towards your hair. Also, try to keep any heat styling down to a minimum, it will just dry out the hair further.
All of the above should help your hair and make it more manageable, and you might find that the shampoo will be fine once your hair has been re- moisturised.
Hope this helps!!
Baby Shampoo on dogs – Baby Shampoo
Is it okay to use Johnsons’s Baby Shampoo on dogs?
Because using it on my Pomeranian made her coat softer. It’s even better than the dog shampoo I bought, which made her fur dry and sticky.
Baby shampoo is made for babies. Dog shampoo is made for dogs. Baby shampoo may work for a while, but you are risking drying out her skin. They make dog shampoos that are formulated for longer coats. See if you can find a dog shampoo with conditioners; that will probably be the best bet for your dog.
Baby Shampoo that causes cancer – Baby Shampoo
Why would it take Johnson & Johnson 2 more years to remove cancer causing chemicals from its baby shampoo?
Why would it take Johnson & Johnson 2 more years to remove cancer causing chemicals from its baby shampoo?
Two chemicals known to cause cancer in babies remain in Johnson & Johnson’s baby shampoo sold in the U.S, even though the company already makes versions without them in other countries. The Campaign for Safe Cosmetics has unsuccessfully been urging the world’s largest health care company for 2 1/2 years to remove the cancer-causing chemicals (dioxane and quaternium-15) from Johnson’s Baby Shampoo. Johnson & Johnson said it is reducing or gradually phasing out the chemicals, but it would take two more years to do so. That would be 4 1/2 years from the time it was discovered by Johnson & Johnson.
According to a report, obtained by The Associated Press, one of the suspect chemicals, quaternium-15, is a preservative that works by releasing formaldehyde. Formaldehyde, used as an embalming fluid, was declared a known human carcinogen this past June by the U.S. National Toxicology Program.
Formaldehyde is also a skin, eye and respiratory irritant, and Quaternium-15 is still an ingredient in Johnson & Johnson’s Baby Shampoo sold in the U.S., Canada, China, Indonesia and Australia, but research this summer found it’s not in the same product sold in at least eight other countries, from the U.K. and Denmark to Japan and South Africa.
According to Analytical Sciences LLC of Petaluma, Calif., 1,4-dioxane was contained in Johnson & Johnson’s Baby Shampoo, Oatmeal Baby Wash, Moisture Care Baby Wash and Aveeno Baby Soothing Relief Creamy Wash. Analytical Sciences also tested multiple Johnson & Johnson baby product samples from the U.S. finding the chemicals in many of them. Consumer groups in South Africa, Sweden and Japan stated that quaternium-15 was not being used in products in their countries.
There is evidence that formaldehyde is associated with nose, lung and blood cancers such as leukemia. An infant’s scalp is more permeable than an adult’s, so exposure to the chemicals cause more harm for babies than adults. To expose a child, during a very vulnerable period of development, when the effect is even greater, and at a time when Johnson & Johnson knows of its dangers, it still intends to take two more years before it stops using those chemicals in its products.
Do we need less governmental regulation, so that corporations do not have to go to the trouble of making products safe? According to Republican legislators, we do need less regulation, because it cuts into the profit margin.
its a terrible fact that many companies produce products with toxic chemicals in them, especially for children. There are even baby formula powders that contain aspartame, its criminal.
People need to be better educated to know what these toxic chemicals are, to read labels, and to boycott these products because only when a companies profits are hit do they take action because the almighty dollar is more important to them than the health and wellbeing of consumers.
Sadly, this is one of many evils lurking in society. We cant rely on government agencies to do the job they are paid to do. One would think they are trying to make us all sick and/or kill us so that we are forever dependant on a health system that is failing us.

Baby shampoo is it good for adults with long hair.?
I have long fine hair and i wash it every 3 days. i am looking for a shampoo with less surfactant and I heard baby shampoo is gentle(mild). I was wondering is it better to use baby shampoo or regular shampoo for adults with long hair?
Don’t use baby shampoo. I have fine long hair too, and actually tried using babys shampoo’s, but it made my hair dry, and it was almost like it wasnt being washed as well as it did with normal Shampoo. I use Aussi Shampoo now and it works really good, hope it helped!(:
